SAFETY TIP #1
As you start planning for the coming season's RV adventures, there are a few important safety items to keep in mind.
In this blog we are going to cover the 1st item, water & electrical cords don't mix, reference the picture above. Always be aware, if you are plugging in to shore power, that there are no puddles or a low spot in the ground where rainwater can gather. Make sure there is a cover on the pedestal, where you plug in.
During one of those really hot days, during summer, do not decide to put a sprinkler or a hose on the roof of your RV to cool it off. As you can see from the picture above, this is what can happen when you put a garden hose on the roof of your RV. Depending where the hose is placed, water runs down right over where the adapter is plugged into your shore cord & shorts out/melts the adapter. In the case of this adapter, the circuit breaker tripped without causing any further damage. Worse case scenario, if the circuit breaker doesn't trip & it goes up the line, the microwave, TV, etc., could get fried. It could wind up being a very expensive mistake.
We know that his may seem a common sense item, but, as you can see, this is something that has been brought into our service department. We just want this to be a friendly reminder to watch out for the little things, so you have an enjoyable RV season.
Until the next "Safety Meeting"!
